SACity Run 2026 is on Sunday, 11 October at Dataran Kemerdekaan, with a 7.00am start. Absolute Wellness is running it as a city-birthday race and a Hari Sukan Negara outing. Two distances are on the books: 5KM for RM35 and 10KM for RM45. Registration stays open through Saturday, 10 October.
The official listing on Absolute Go is blunt about the point of the morning. The race is tied to Shah Alam’s city anniversary, and it is meant to put people on the civic lawn rather than on a highway. Dataran Kemerdekaan is the same square that hosted SUKMA opening ceremonies in August, so if you have been to a Merdeka or sports night here you already know the flagpole, the open grass, and the crush of cars on Persiaran Bandaraya.
Flag-off is listed as 7.00am. Al-Ikhsan Sports, which has been pushing the race on Instagram, has also quoted 7.30am. Trust the organiser page for the clock, then arrive early anyway. Race-day kit collection is 6.00am to 7.00am on the same lawn. If you hate that scramble, collect on Saturday, 10 October, from 11.00am to 6.00pm, also at Dataran Kemerdekaan. There is no Decathlon pickup this time.
What the fee actually buys
The race kit is a sublimation event tee, a finisher medal, bib numbers, post-run refreshment, and a lucky-draw entry. Size charts for kids, junior, and adult tees are on the registration portal. Pick the size when you sign up. Absolute Go says sizes are locked at registration, so do not assume you can swap on Saturday.
Registration opened 28 August 2026 and closes 10 October. You can log in on Absolute Go or continue as a guest. The 5KM Open and 10KM Open categories both sit at a single public price. There is no student or kids tier on this listing, unlike some other Shah Alam fun runs this year.
The two loops around Section 14
The organiser has published both course maps. The 5KM stays tight around the civic core. The 10KM stretches the same neighbourhood into a longer loop. Both start and finish at Dataran Kemerdekaan. Expect marshals, cones, and a few closed lanes. MBSA has already used this playbook for other Sunday races, including Niaga Run in September, so treat Persiaran Bandaraya, Persiaran Sukan, and the Section 13/14 sports roads as likely pinch points if you are driving in rather than running.
The 10KM map is the one to screenshot if you are chasing a time. Hydration points are not listed as a separate table on the portal. Pack a bottle for the first kilometre and assume the rest is on-course. If haze returns the way it cancelled Larian MAIS in September, watch Absolute Go and MBSA channels on Saturday night. Outdoor sport in Shah Alam has already been called off once this season when the API sat in the unhealthy band.
Getting there is easier than it was a year ago. LRT3’s Shah Alam station is in Section 14, a short walk or Grab from the square. Stadium Shah Alam, Wisma MBSA, and the Section 13 sports complex sit in the same pocket. If you drive, do not count on parking inside the dataran once the village opens. Use the mall and office lots along Persiaran Perbandaran and walk in.
This is not a championship. It is a cheap, local Sunday with a city crest on the medal. If you still need a longer target, ikhlas.com has already announced a half marathon back at the same square on 6 December. For this weekend, the useful decision is 5KM versus 10KM, kit on Saturday versus race morning, and whether you can live with a 7.00am start after a late Saturday.
