Para SUKMA 2026 is already in Shah Alam, and Sunday's programme did not survive the haze. Organising committee deputy chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the Air Pollutant Index in Shah Alam and Klang hit 169 at noon on 6 September. That is the "unhealthy" band. Four sports were pulled the same afternoon: para athletics at Stadium UiTM, para swimming at Kompleks Akuatik Selangor, para archery at KOMBES, and lawn bowls at Bayuemas in Klang.
Najwan's statement, carried by FMT, NST and Sinar Harian, said the call followed advice from the Department of Environment, the health department and a technical committee that has been watching the index through the day. Resumption depends on the next IPU readings at each site. There is no fixed restart hour in the first briefing. If you already bought a train ticket for the afternoon session, treat the hall as closed until selangor2026.com or the committee's next note says otherwise.
Four sports pulled at noon, not the whole Games
Para SUKMA opened on 5 September. The official site lists the window as 5 to 10 September, even though some earlier state briefings used 5 to 14 September. Stick with the live site. Morning sessions on 6 September had already started in athletics, powerlifting, archery, badminton, boccia, table tennis, chess and lawn bowls before the noon cut. Swimming was on the postponement list even though the Selangor Aquatic Centre is an indoor tank. The organisers treated athlete travel and outdoor staging around that complex as part of the same air-quality problem.
Lawn bowls is the one postponement that is not a Shah Alam hall. Bayuemas sits in Klang. I am flagging it here because Najwan named it in the same sentence as the three Shah Alam sites, and Klang's IPU was quoted at the same 169. Do not drive to Bayuemas expecting a workaround. The other three pulled venues are all inside this city.
Which Shah Alam halls were not named in the halt
The postponement list is specific. Powerlifting at Selangor International Trade Centre, boccia at Dewan Besar Tanjung MBSA in Section 19, and para badminton at KOMBES were on the morning card and were not named in Najwan's four-sport halt. Table tennis and chess are in Klang halls, so they sit outside this guide. KOMBES is awkward: archery there is off, badminton there was not listed as off. If you are heading to that complex, ask at the door which courts are live. Do not assume the whole building went dark.
Spectators who want a quieter indoor stop still have SITC in Shah Alam for powerlifting, plus the Section 19 hall for boccia. Both are easier on the lungs than a track session at UiTM while the index sits at 169. Bring a mask anyway. The haze does not stop at the car park.
Getting across Shah Alam while the index sits high
LRT3 is the cleanest way to move if you are not driving. Stadium Shah Alam station is the useful stop for UiTM's sports cluster and for AEON Mall Shah Alam next door. Seksyen 7 station covers i-City if you are killing time between sessions. KOMBES and SITC still need a short Grab or bus hop from the nearest station. Leave extra time. Traffic on the Federal Highway slows when the sky turns that milk-tea colour, and weekend Para SUKMA traffic was already on the roads before the postponement.
If you are only in town for the Games, check the result system at rs.selangor2026.com the night before and again after 12pm. The committee said updates will follow the IPU, not a printed rain-delay timetable. A mask, bottled water and a backup indoor plan, SITC or the Section 19 hall, will save you a wasted trip to the track.
